Fatigue of a Flared Tubing Connection
M - Austenitic Stainless SteelP - TubingAp - EngineCd - Mechanical Fatigue
Cm - Aspect Before AnalysisDf - General View
Fractured position of the casting cylinder of 10.5 mm thickness (minimum measured thickness) showing a brittle behavior (lack of plastic deformation), typical of overloading a material with 1% ductility (measured in the tensile test). This is the view of the internal surface of the cylinder, presenting regions of localized thinning in this surface that was in contact with (treated) cooling water. The external side of the cylinder was painted.
