Description

The tubular joint has collapsed in service due to a manufacturing problem. The material in the failed location is (matrix) and the previous grain boundaries are decorated. It reveals an unsuitable and results in lower strength and toughness than required. Probably the material was overheated during tempering. Far from the failed region the material presented a typical .
