Yield Strength at 0.5% Deformation

A yield strength value obtained from a tensile test using a larger, defined amount of permanent (plastic) deformation as the criterion for yielding than the more common offset criterion, applied to certain materials or specifications that call for this alternative basis. It is reported alongside other tensile properties to characterize when a material begins to deform permanently under load.
