The transformation of lamellar 's carbide into rounded, spheroidal particles dispersed through a matrix, occurring during prolonged exposure to elevated temperature. It softens the and improves ductility and machinability, and its presence in a micrograph is also a useful indicator of extended high-temperature service or overheating.
