Grain Boundary Precipitation

The formation of a second phase or particles along the boundaries between grains, rather than dispersed through the grain interior, often during exposure to elevated temperature. Because grain boundaries are already a preferred path for growth and attack, precipitation along them can further weaken the material or its resistance.
