Aspect of the 3/8" thickness plate, 50 mm x 50 mm, of the titanium alloy, in a section transverse to the impact position that is to the top of the figure. The projectile did not perforate the plate but caused a localized plastic deformation and cracks that appear in the opposite site of the plate at the projectile impact position.

The "layer" at the top of the plate (exposed to the cooling medium - treated seawater) is a region of selective corrosion, dezincification. It is possible to see that in the right side of the figure, where the cooper tube was positioned, the corrosion damage is deeper.
