Submerged Arc Welding

Also known as: SAW

An arc process in which the arc is formed beneath a blanket of flux that shields the weld pool, rather than by a shielding gas or a coated electrode. It produces high deposition rates and clean welds and is widely for long, straight or gently curved welds such as those in and pressure-vessel fabrication.
