Flux-to-Wire Ratio

In submerged arc welding, the amount of granular flux consumed relative to the amount of wire electrode consumed during welding — a process variable that affects weld bead shape, penetration, and the amount of alloying pickup from an active flux. Keeping this ratio within a qualified range is part of maintaining a consistent, qualified welding procedure.
