Diffusion Coating
A process in which a element is introduced and then diffuses into the at elevated temperature, forming a graded layer that is metallurgically bonded to the substrate rather than simply deposited on top of it. Chromizing and aluminizing are common examples, to improve high-temperature oxidation or resistance.
