Condition
Buckling
A sudden loss of structural stability in which a slender or thin-walled component under compressive load deforms sideways or out of its original shape, rather than failing by simple material overstress. It can occur elastically, at loads well below the material's yield strength, purely as a function of the component's geometry and how it is supported.
