Annealing Twins

Straight, mirror-symmetric bands within a grain that form during recrystallization or grain growth on annealing, as distinguished from deformation twins that form by mechanical straining. They are common in annealed austenitic stainless steels, copper alloys, and other low-stacking-fault-energy metals, and are a normal microstructural feature rather than a defect.
